My day job is as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Old Dominion University.  I teach courses on cybercrime, race and ethnicity, and research methods.  At Old Dominion, I conduct quantitative research on online behavioral patterns and coordinate the university’s cybercrime program.  The views expressed here are my own.

I write (and will eventually be uploading audio) to this website as a way to work out ideas about the digital environment.  I am concerned about privacy and free speech online.  I have a libertarian streak, and I worry about government overreach and surveillance online.  I am also interested in how the digital environment can be used by underrepresented groups for jobs, information, and well-being.  This site allows me to make these ideas public.
