About Me

I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Old Dominion University* in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice.  I identify as a digital sociologist, and I explore the social dynamics of the digital environment.  I have two main areas of research:

  1. Racial differences in the uses of technology, including the use of Twitter and mobile phones by black Americans
  2. Crime and deviance online, including the use of darknets, Twitter usage by marginalized or stigmatized groups, and cyberbullying

I am currently the Program Coordinator and Faculty Advisor, for Old Dominion University’s Interdisciplinary Studies Cybercrime Major.
